The animal was said to have been rejected by its mother – but reports say locals in India have adopted it and are now caring for it
A calf “with just one huge eye” is being worshipped by locals who claim it was “sent from God”.
Strange footage has emerged which alleges to show a deformed newborn cow from West Bengal in India.
The video, which cannot be verified, shows the calf with just a single large eye and no nose.
The animal was said to have been rejected by its mother but then adopted by locals who are now caring for it.
A clip appears to show the animal gasping for breath, although some have questioned it authenticity.
A source said: “Ever since the calf was born, the people have crowded to see the bizarre calf.
“They are now considering it to be a miracle of God and have started worshipping it.
“The cow had been discarded by its mother and the women are feeding the cow.
“The people think that worshipping the cow is going to bring luck and prosperity to the family of whoever worships it.”
In a similar case last year, footage emerged of a goat giving birth to ‘half-pig half-human’ creature.
There were shrieks of horror when one of the strange-looking animals emerged from the goat.
The two infants and the mother goat all died, sparking fears that the creature was a cursed “mutant devil” that brought bad luck.
Dr Agapita Salces of the Institute of Animal Science of the University of the Philippines said the foetus appeared to have suffered a genetic mutation in the womb.
He added: “It is a possible case of genetic mutation.
“It is also possible that the mother contracted a disease called Rift Valley fever from mosquito bites and this caused the impaired development of the infant.”
